EMOTIONAL AND SOCIAL WELLBEING

Challenges for CALD Communities

Supporting the mental health of culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities in the NT.
Over 250,000 first-generation adult Australians from CALD backgrounds experience some form of mental disorder each year. Yet, many don’t seek help due to language, cultural barriers or lack of accessible services.
Ignite Potential works to make mental health support inclusive, culturally safe and accessible.

•    Lack of services in community languages
•    Difficulty navigating mainstream services
•    Limited knowledge of available support

•    Services often not culturally appropriate
•    Underutilization of suicide prevention services
